Veliko Tarnovo will have a new Town Park

Veliko Tarnovo is to receive a new town park – its 15th. The park will be set up at the terrain near the Kachitsa Roundabout (just behind Billa Store). The initial project is now ready.

The project envisages that there will be walkways, green areas with decorative shrubs and trees, pet zone, sports facilities, kids playgrounds and water fountains. There will be skating and bicycle alleys and shaded seating areas. The park will also have a stage where it can host various happenings and performances. The funding is expected to come through the financial mechanisms of the European Union.

The plot of land spans over 18,000 sqm and was owned by the state until last year when the Council of Ministers granted the ownership of the place to the Municipality of Veliko Tarnovo at the request of the Mayor Daniel Panov. All the other parks within the territory of the town were renovated in recent years after the Municipality secured funding from the European Union.

The terrain for the new park, just behind Billa store at the roundabout

Veliko Tarnovo Municipality has plans to build a new park with family-friendly activity grounds spanning on 18,000 sqm. The terrain is located in the Kachitsa area and its ownership was transferred to the Municipality just days ago at a meeting of the Council of Ministers. The place is known as the Circus Arena – circuses visiting the town are setting up their tents there. The Mayor of Veliko Tarnovo personally engaged himself with the project and the final decision was also due to his efforts. In his words, speculations that residential buildings or a new retail chain will be constructed there are false and in reality a new park with many options for recreation will be built on the premises. An interesting fact is that the first evidence of life in the region, from around 4000 BC., was found in Kachitsa area.
