More than 5 thousand participants and over 400 collectives will participate in the festival “Folklore Izvor”, which will be held in early August in the village of Tsarevets, Veliko Tarnovo region. This year, students of the professional folklore schools in Kotel, Shiroka Luka, Varna, Sofia, Bourgas and others will also dance in the forum.

Once again Veliko Tarnovo will be transformed into Verona in the Balkans this summer, when the Tsarevets fortress will again be the arena of open-air opera productions. The beginning of the International Folklore Festival Veliko Tarnovo was held in 1998. Since its inception, the festival has the status of “Festival of CIOFF” (International Council of Organizers of Festivals for Folklore and Traditional Arts). It is one of 270 recognized by the CIOFF numerous festivals around the world. The status, the perfect organization, the attractive program and the exceptional response are the reason for the International Folklore Festival in Veliko Tarnovo to become one of the most prestigious events for Bulgaria and the world.
From 29 of June to 1 of July the Tsarevets Fortress will host the International Festival “Medieval Tarnovgrad” for the fourth consecutive year. The historic reconstructions of Bulgaria, Byzantine and European arts, the kitchens, crafts, the arts and military skills of the XII-XIV century are a real bridge in time and will bring visitors to another, mysterious and full of pleasant experiences. Over 150 reenactors from Bulgaria, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Ukraine and Hungary will participate in the festival in Veliko Tarnovo.
