After two years of delay due to the pandemic, the traditional for Veliko Tarnovo “Trabant Fest” will take place. The date is March 19, and the event, which gathers dozens of friends of the social vehicle, is included in the events celebrating the holiday of Veliko Tarnovo. This will be its eleventh edition.
Usually the Trabant Festival in the old capital opens the calendar for the year of such events. The program is still being finalized, but three of the main points are clear.
After the global pandemic blocked the entire cultural life last year, the traditional International Folklore Festival in Veliko Tarnovo will be held this year, albeit on a smaller scale than in previous years. The festival will once again be part of the cultural calendar of the old capital from July 25 to 30 on the stage of the Summer Theater.
The kinetic art installation “Merger – Confluence” by the popular visual artist Hristo Gelov will transform Veliko Tarnovo this spring. The famous artist, who turned the crosswalks in Spain into colorful rugs and decorated a bridge in Sweden as a “Lego” toy, will transform some of the open spaces in his hometown for the first time.
The cultural calendar of Veliko Tarnovo this summer is constantly changing due to the emergency epidemic situation in the country. At the moment, some of the events are already underway, others are planned, and others have been postponed or will not take place. Those that still remain in the program will be without international participation and even without some of the pre-announced Bulgarian artists.
A unique for Bulgaria Chinese Culture Festival will be held in Veliko Tarnovo. It includes exhibitions, demonstrations, a concert, a Chinese cinema week, lectures and more. The five-day forum is organized by the initiative of the publisher Neiko Genchev.
