The construction of a kids’ playground which will also be suitable for disadvantaged and disabled children is currently under way in Marno Pole Park in Veliko Tarnovo. It is the second of its kind in Bulgaria. The old beat-up and dangerous see-saws, swings and slides have been dismantled and removed and the installation of the new elements which conform to all contemporary safety standards has begun.
Shock absorbent floorings will also be laid out. The playground will feature benches, wooden gazebo and an educational zone for tales reading with a king’s throne and colourful kids’ chairs. The playing field will span at 820 sqm and will offer a variety of activities. There will be modules encouraging kids’ imagination and also such developing their minds. A sports zone will offer a number of children’s fitness appliances in bright colours.
The playground is part of the national campaign for social integration of children with disabilities in Veliko Tarnovo. The noble initiative aims to provide equal access for kids with disabilities and to make it easier for them to take part in the games of their peers. The project is based on the principles of accessibility, opportunity and social solidarity.
